Welcome:
Welcome to
the SaveAirfield Campaign website.
The
SaveAirfield Campaign is a loose confederation of people who are committed to
saving Airfield house and farm in Dundrum, Dublin, from inappropriate
development. The estate was left in trust by the late Misses Letitia and Naomi
Overend – see link “The History of Airfield and the
Overends”.
The
Campaign was started by Angela Lemass and Rose Mary Logue in late 2003 when the
Trustees at Airfield proposed selling Dudley’s Field to fund a “Masterplan”
designed by Solearth (see www.solearth.com
). The link “The
2004 SaveAirfield Campaign” gives details of the way in which the
public voiced their concern about proposed developments and succeeded in
changing the zoning of much of Airfield land to save it from building
development.
There is no
SaveAirfield committee or any other formal structure. Costs to date have been met by those involved and all work in
connection with the Campaign is carried out on a voluntary basis.
SaveAirfield
Campaign aims are:
1.
To see
the house and farm at Airfield maintained in line with the expressed wishes of
Misses Letitia and Naomi Overend.
2.
To
ensure the estate is preserved as an open space for the benefit of the public
and to save it from building development.
3.
To
have local representation on the Board of Trustees at Airfield
4.
To
achieve openness and transparency in matters connected with the Trust.
